This is a sharing an houseboat for budget travelers to experience Kerala backwaters. understand the limitation and difficulties in shared houseboats.

The cost of maintaining a single-bedroom houseboat is very high. So independent/private one-bedroom houseboat will cost 8500/- onwards (On-Peak Dates, Dec 20-JAN10, 12K-16K). To make an economical houseboat experience we come up with a package called “sharing a houseboat.” on a this particular houseboat you will get a private bedroom in a large houseboat with an upper deck area and a large living space area.

NOTE :

5 or 7+ bedroom houseboat is given as a sharing basis, each couple will get separate rooms with the attached bathroom in one houseboat. They can share a common lobby, dining area, top floor, sun deck etc.

Just think that you are staying at a 3-star hotel. You are getting a private room and you go to a common restaurant to dining. Similar way you are staying houseboat which is floating/cruising and you can hang out around the houseboat just like a hotel. There is enough space for all guests. The upper deck area is commonly using for dining purposes.

Maximum 3 adults allowed in 1 room including an extra bed.
12 yr and above considers as adults.
Deluxe AC (9pm- 6am) provided.
Cruise time starting is variable because of guests are coming from different destinations. if you are more concerned about time and quality of service please book an independent houseboat package.

Cruise itinerary

Check In 12:00 PM

Welcome with Tender coconut/fruit juice by the service boy followed by a short introduction about the cruising and the local geography. Later cruise starts and you'll be taken to the magical waterways of Alleppey.
Lunch 01:00 PM

Houseboat will stop for your lunch, with a lavish menu of traditional Kerala cuisines with healthy dishes
Cruising 02:00 PM

Relax and enjoy the Canals, rivers, and backwater through cruising.
Evening tea 04:00 PM

Provide you evening snacks & continue the cruising that covers beautiful rivers and canals shaded with coconut trees and small village houses dotted cover there, green paddyfields, old churches, etc.. You can get the surface in between and can experience the taste of toddy.

Houseboats are for exclusive usage and not shared.
Houseboats are accompanied by navigator and cook.
Meal plan - Starts with Lunch and ends with Breakfast (Typical Kerala Cuisine, if you require any other cuisine inform us at least 5 days in advance)
The Houseboat will anchor by 5:30 PM for the night stay and will retain the cruise the very next morning at 08:00 AM. There is no cruising in the lake allowed in the evening hours or late night.
You can use A/C anytime required in PREMIUM / LUXURY Houseboats.
The houseboat has limited facilities and resources. Do not compare with Hotels and Home.
Swimming in the backwater is strictly prohibited
Do not cause noise disturbance to the villagers during night halt.
The Food and beverage service on the houseboat is only up to 10:30 PM.
Guests are not permitted to remain or sleep outside the rooms after 10:30 PM.
Boat will be halted for one hour during lunch break.
The distance we cover is about 20-30 kms and the place of the night halt will be decided by the captain according to the weather and climate

I was confused while booking shared houseboat. we have limited budget. also want to know whats is houseboat. So we end up with shared houseboat. While reaching on alleppey we found that the shared houseboats are larger than we can imagine. Big boat with multiple rooms and upperdeck. i feel that i stayed in hotel which is floating in backwater. 🙂 Its nice experience. Every rooms was bathroom attached. Its worthy every penny we spend. thatks
